European leaders gather as pressure mounts on Kyiv
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk acknowledged on Sunday that Warsaw faced a “dilemma” in fully supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia while maintaining long-standing ties to Washington, whose military has underpinned Polish security.
Before meeting other European leaders in London, Tusk told reporters that “while standing on Ukraine’s side in the interests of our national security, at the same time we, Poles, are supporters of the closest possible alliance between Poland and the entire west and the US”.
He added: “Today, it seems more difficult to some, we have a certain dilemma. The position of the Washington administration is not as clear as ours, but we have to overcome this dilemma.”
